I can't believe that in two short weeks it will be time to head back to teaching. I'm not ready.
My big plan for the summer was to organize the house in preparation for baby #2 and decorate our newly remodeled new bedrooms and playroom. Unfortunately we're still in limbo on the decorating.
We sunk a huge amount of money to have two new bedrooms made and a new playroom. The project started a week or more before school was out in June. We were told it would be done early July. The first stumbling block was we needed a new bathroom when we found out the pipes were all bad to the one we were just going to paint. That added a big chunk of change to the project and slowed things down. Then our contractor did a sloppy job and I ended up with a two page single spaced list of things that needed to be fixed. He did fix them, but the job still isn't up to the standards I'm used to. It's hard when your father was a contractor for 30+ years. You know what things are supposed to look like.
When that was finally done, we were told we'd have the electrical certificate for the code inspector within two days. Three weeks later the electrical inspector finally shows and we don't pass inspection. We contact the contractor and he says it's not his fault b/c he subcontracted some of the electrical work out to another electrician. After going back and forth for nearly another two weeks, we're still without the certificate and can't move in to our newly remodeled rooms.
So, it's been a frustrating summer. I had wanted our 3 year old to be transitioned into his new room before I went back to work. Now we'll be lucky if the things are even moved in by then. Remodeling is always a headache, but this is just ridiculous and way too expensive. That first paycheck of the school year can't get here fast enough...four weeks and counting.
